Delete your account
You can permanently delete your My Pet Memoria account and every piece of data associated with it at any time. This page explains how, what gets removed, and what (if anything) we’re required to retain for legal reasons.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (fastest)
- Open My Pet Memoria on your phone.
- Tap the menu icon (top left on the home screen).
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
- Confirm when prompted.
Deletion runs immediately. Within seconds, your account and all of the content listed below are gone from our servers. You’ll be signed out and returned to the welcome screen.
Option 2 — Delete by email
If you can’t access the app for any reason (lost device, forgotten password, uninstalled), email us from the address on your account:

We need you to email from the same address you used to sign up so we can confirm it’s really you. Once we verify, we complete the deletion within 30 days (usually much faster — within a few working days).
What gets deleted
Everything tied to your account is removed from our systems in a single cascading operation. This includes:
- Your profile (email, name, identity chosen during onboarding)
- Every pet memorial you created (names, species, photos, stories)
- Every memory, caption, and photo you uploaded
- Every journal entry and mood log
- Every letter you wrote and every AI reply you received
- Every grief companion chat thread
- Every candle you lit and every candle lit for your pets by others
- Your lesson progress and any reflections saved inside courses
- Subscription records tied to your account ID (your RevenueCat entry is unlinked)
- Your push notification token (so no further anniversary reminders will be sent)
Community candles lit by other people for your pets are deleted together with the memorial they were attached to.
What we’re required to keep
A small amount of data is legally required to persist for a short period after you delete your account:
- Payment receipts: if you ever had a paid subscription, Apple, Google, and RevenueCat retain the transaction record for tax and accounting purposes. These live with them, not us. In our own records, the transaction is anonymised — your email is removed and only the non-identifying receipt ID remains.
- Server access logs: rotating 30-day logs may briefly contain your pseudonymised user ID. These are overwritten automatically and are not linked back to your email after deletion.
None of this retained data can be used to reconstruct your account.
Timing
- In-app deletion: immediate. Your content is gone from our active database within seconds.
- Email request: we respond within one working day and complete the deletion within 30 days maximum (usually faster).
- Backups:our routine encrypted database backups are retained for 7 days and then rotated out. If your deletion lands mid-backup-cycle, your data persists in the old encrypted backup until the backup expires — at which point it’s gone.
